You may have read my Fortune Cookie Recipe post where I showed Daisy and I packaging them up at the end into individual pyramid gift bags. Then at the end of that post I promised the DIY for the pyramids would be up soon, so here it is!
You Will Need:
- Piece Of One Patterned Paper (If you don’t have any consider, drawing or painting a pattern onto one side of some plain pieces.)
- Hole Punch
Take your paper and flip it so that the non-patterned side is facing up. (If there’s pattern on both sides just pick one!) Then using your pencil and ruler draw a square in the middle of the page, to determine the size we needed for ours we placed a fortune cookie in the middle of the paper and drew a large square around it. Basically just make sure your square is big enough for whatever will be inside your gift pyramid.
Then draw a large triangle coming off each side of the square, again the size of these will depend on the size of the square you’ve drawn. Use a ruler to determine the measurement required. You should have a shape that looks like this:
Once you’ve done this cut out the net and fold in each triangle using the edge where they meet the square. If you made the net correctly, when they all four fold in they should meet at the top.
Take a hole punch and make a hole at the top of each triangle. Like so:
Place your object on the square. Then take your ribbon or string and thread it through one of the holes, pull it through and thread it again – this time through the triangle straight opposite. Do the same with the two remaining holes, use the diagram below to help you! Make sure you pull the string taught as you thread it to ensure there are no gaps due to the triangles being loose.
Finally take the two loose ends of ribbon or string and tie them on top of your pyramid in a bow.
Voila! You now have a cute pyramid gift bag.
What would you put in your pyramid? 🙂
