It’s been a long day at work, you come home and the first thing you realise is that it’s going to be a while before dinner is ready, and of course, somebody’s stomach is grumbling. So what you need are some easy and healthy(ish) snack ideas!
Take a handful of strawberries, wash them and slice off the leaves.
Then take a spoonful of chocolate spread put it into a bowl and heat it in the microwave for thirty seconds until runny.
Drop your strawberries in the bowl and add frozen blueberries, grapes and apple slices to add extra flavours and textures!
Simply choose your favourite flavour of yogurt and at the beginning of the week pour equal amounts into Popsicle moulds.
Freeze them and then during the week grab one whenever you fancy a refreshing snack.
These are great because there are so many flavours to choose from and if you want to mix it up even more try adding sliced fresh fruit to vanilla yogurt.
If you are having difficulty removing them from the moulds try running the mould under the hot tap for a minute to loosen them. I also find silicone moulds are always a lot easier than the plastic ones when it comes to removing frozen goods.
These cookies are really simple to make and can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container ready for when you need them.
All you need for them is peanut butter, sugar and an egg. For the blog post where I wrote out the whole recipe you can clink the link above.
Toast may seem like an obvious choice as lots of people have bread in the kitchen but it can get boring after a while so try to switch up the toast toppings you buy every once in a while.
Some to try include:
- Jam in different flavours (Strawberry, raspberry, apricot etc.)
- Peanut Butter and a small sliced banana
- Chocolate spread and sliced strawberries
- Avocado and a poached egg
- Cheddar cheese with red onion
- Banana and cinnamon
- Scrambled eggs and black pepper
- Beans and cheese
Simply peel and wash a serving of mushrooms, then slice or grate a small amount of your favourite cheese.
Place a frying pan on the hob with a small amount of olive oil in it, fry the mushrooms. Then tip them into a bowl put the cheese on top and grill for a minute or two until the cheese melts. Alternatively melt the cheese using the microwave.
