Today I’ve got another instalment in my Read And Rave series, this series seems to be imensley popular right now. I’m so glad you are all enjoying it so if you have any suggestions for other books I should read and review leave them in the comments below! x
You might recognise this book if you read my Holiday Haul post as it is one of the ones I bought whilst in Wales – it was only £3 in a WH Smith outlet store, how could I resist?!
The Last Time I Saw You is a novel by Eleanor Moran.
Before I start I have to say this was not one of my favourite books, out of all the books I’ve read for this series it’s probably nearer to the bottom of the ‘how much I like them’ scale. This is not to say it was a bad book because it wasn’t at all, in fact it was a perfectly good book. It just didn’t rank in the ‘wow that was amazing’ column. To be fair it was probably in the outlet store because of how mediocre it was.
It centres around Sally, who dies in a car crash. The narrator of the novel is one of her best friends and it basically deals with what happens to those around Sally and what they have to do in order to keep moving on with their lives.
The narrative isn’t linear – there are lots of flashbacks which were actually, in my opinion, the best bit. I was fascinated by the titbits of Sally’s life we were fed and the questions that these then left waiting to be answered. I wish there had been more.
In terms of the narrator and where here life leads her I was slightly disappointed by the way her love life ended, I felt it didn’t quite fit or come to a stop where I thought it had been leading. If it was up to me I would have picked a different suitor for her.
When I bought it I was looking for a light holiday read, which this is as I finished it in two days. So in terms of being a time filler for me it did its job.
Don’t forget to leave suggestions for other books I should read in the comments!
